bobk,

Don't know if you have seen this, it was sent to members on Feb. 2nd.

The Problem:
------------
During the open many myTrack users are experiencing bad prices,
lost trade confirms, or even freezing of the myTrack program.

The Cause:
----------
As we've increased the number of features we offer on
myTrack the amount of data we're sending to each user has
increased as well. You asked for multiple dynamic chart
windows, multiple dynamic transaction log windows, multiple
Nasdaq Level II windows, and the ability to dynamically monitor
more symbols and we were happy to add these features.

However, each of these features means more data coming to your
PC via your internet connection and your modem. When the amount
of data we try to send you exceeds your ability to receive it
then, like a juggler trying to juggle too many balls, data gets
dropped.

The TCP/IP protocol used by the internet is very smart and knows
when it misses data. When data is missing TCP/IP will attempt
to retrieve the missed data. When this happens occasionally it's
not a problem, just as the juggler can keep juggling while he
picks up one or two dropped balls. But if the amount of missing
data becomes excessive then TCP/IP becomes so busy trying to get
the missed data it eventually can't do anything at all. If
the juggler tried to pick up too many dropped balls he'd
eventually drop them all.

The Solution(s):
----------------
There are two things you can do to alleviate this problem and there
are two things we're going to do to help.

First off we're going to prioritize the data we send so that trade
confirmations get top priority.

Next, we're going give you some new statistics so you can see if
this problem is affecting you and how severely. Within the next
few days we will be adding a new "/link" command to chat. When
you type /link on the input line information will appear in your
private chat window telling you how much data we're trying to send
you and what percent of the data is getting through.

The next step is up to you. You can either reduce the data you're
requesting by closing some of the above mentioned features
(especially during the opening hours) or you can increase your
bandwidth.

You can increase your bandwidth by upgrading your modem, e.g. from
28.8 to 56K or by subscribing to a broadband service such is ISDN
or DSL. Be aware, that the fact the you have a 56K modem does not
necessarily mean you're receiving data at 56K. The amount of actual
bandwidth you get depends on both your local phone system and on
your Internet Service Provider. Our chat hosts are very
knowledgeable in this area and are available to help you diagnose the
problem and find solutions.

If you are on a cable modem and are having "freez-up" problems, the best thing I have found is to turn off all tickers (top of quote screen, level II and MyTrade screen).

You can also set the volume filter for each symbol on your quote screen (Settings / Volume ticker filter / ...and then select minimum trade size you want to see).

I have not fiddled with the filter as I use MyTrack for OTC-BB's and have not had any freezing problems since removing the tickers.

I did notice a "glitch" on Friday with cancellations, I would get the "cancel received by MyTrack" but would not get the "received by broker" message. But when I would hit the "open orders" button those orders would be gone....

I also get frustrated when I preference NITE and the next 5 orders still go to HRZG...if HRZG is inside ask, and you are trying to buy, very rarely will they give you the fill....

MyTrack is doing very well for me in the OTC-BB market, and they have fixed the data flow problems to AIQ.

All in all, I am happy with the service. Jerry
