Ramsey , Actually it will two years this March that Alcatel and Philips withdrew which validated the patent. The total amount of time consumed on that issue was close to 7 years.

The German appeal was heard by three Judges with technical experience. Anything they didn't understand they were allowed to bring in experts for opinions.

The results of that appeal to me have only brought in two licensees for GSM/TDMA. They are Nokia and Bosch. The Nokia agreement to me is very gray and I think if IDC gets a favorable decision in Texas a new deal will be written.

The news release between IDC and Nokia used wording something like "over the terms of the agreement".

IMO the terms of the agreement will be over when the IDC versus Ericy trial ends. I don't see any of the big companies licensing with IDC until that case ends. If Nokia owes IDC more (which I believe they do)I can't blame them for hanging on to their money for as long as they can. Also the fact remains if IDC would lose the case Nokia would look pretty foolish for making a worldwide licensing agreement with IDC and paying up all they owed.

When one looks at both IDC and the Q's licensees it seem obvious that neither has had a hard tome licensing the Asians. That still remains a mystery to me? Both IDC and the Q had problems with Mot and ERICY but their greed has hurt their market share big time.

This ERICY litigation started in 1993 and is now coming to a head.

Contrary to what Molloy thinks about the shares going down the drain if ERICY wins it wouldn't be the end of the world. This litigation is just for the USA and the USA is a small part of the pie that's out there. I read one time that Asia,India and Europe are 70% to 75 % market and the rest of the world is the other 25%. The Usa is in that 25%.

Many, me included, think IDC made a good decision by not starting any proceedings in Europe as any favorable decision here could lead to a worldwide agreement with ERICY and many others in the industry.

Molloy also affords IDC's run up was on the baby q mention. Is he for real? The news release that reexamination of the patents involved in the law suit received approval was the driving force. The other release by IDC stating they have essential IPR in all five of the ITU standards added even more fuel.

April 3rd the Markman hearing starts so soon we will all know more.

How has ERICY been doing with the infrastructure division they bought off the Q? Do you think they can make it profitable?
