Disk drive sales track PC sales closely. Currently, analysts are assuming 1.5 disk drives are sold for every computer sold, reflecting of course, the brisk aftermarket sales of disk drives. Disk Trend projects that this ratio will go up to 1.6 disk drives for every computer sold by the end of the decade.

Below is a link to the latest (4/16/97) report from H&Q that should give investors in the storage sector some ideas as to why the sector is behaving in a seemingly irrational manner.
