Will, or can, anyone tell me why this is not ok:

"A person whose views are inappropriately offensive may still make a good officer in the Anti-Redundancy Squad."

It seems to me that "views," akin to comments made at a roast, can be gauged along a spectrum of offensiveness - where at least some degree of offensiveness is desirable.

And someone, such as Imus, can go beyond the pale, thus becoming inappropriately offensive.

What am I missing?
