Kasten Chase closes largest data security system sale

Kasten Chase Applied Research Ltd KCA
Shares issued 39,084,687 Feb 11 close $2.05
Mon 14 Feb 2000 News Release
Mr. John Carlesso reports
Kasten Chase has made the largest single sale of RASP Secure Access. The
deal involves the sale of 26 RASP Secure Access systems to the U.S. Marine
Corps.
Kasten Chase's RASP Secure Access has been adopted by all branches of the
U.S. Military, the Department of Defense and the Pentagon. In addition, the
solution has been deployed to all nine of the unified commands within the
U.S. Military, including U.S. Transportation Command, U.S. Strategic
Command, U.S. Space Command, U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Joint Forces
Command, U.S. European Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, U.S.
Southern Command and U.S. Central Command. Many general officers within
these commands are now benefiting from secure remote access to E-mail and
other network services.
"RASP Secure Access is being used extensively by U.S. forces in the major
regions of the world, including North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim,"
noted Steve Ducat, vice-president and general manager RASP Secure Access at
Kasten Chase. "Non-military sector interest also continues to grow with
systems deployed in the U.S. government's Department of Treasury,
Department of Justice and Department of Commerce."
"Kasten Chase is the exclusive provider of the National Security
Agency-sanctioned RASP Secure Access solution, with 190 systems deployed to
date. As we are still early on in the deployment of RASP systems, this
represents only a very small percentage of the total addressable market for
this data security technology, according to Warren J. Suss Associates of
Jenkins, Pa., a consulting firm specializing in U.S. government data
security." Mr. Ducat added, "Global deployment of the RASP solution has now
nearly doubled since October, 1999."
About RASP Secure Access
Developed and tested by the U.S. National Security Agency, RASP Secure
Access is the first complete remote access security solution designed to
safeguard government mission-critical information. When used in accordance
with NSA policies and guidelines, RASP may be used to protect classified
(up to and including the secret-level) and sensitive but unclassified (SBU)
data.
Portable and cost-effective, RASP Secure Access provides remote, laptop
users with secure, dial-up connections to local-area networks (LANs) from
any location that offers a connection to the local telephone service. These
remote users can access the same services available to users attached
locally to the LAN. RASP is a multifaceted remote access security solution,
providing user authentication, link encryption and desktop data protection.
It prevents unauthorized network access and protects against intercept
attacks on data transmitted over public telephone lines. RASP Secure Media,
a key component of the solution, safeguards the confidentiality and
integrity of information stored on a personal computer, should it be lost,
stolen or otherwise compromised.
Kasten Chase is the single source for RASP Secure Access, offering
installation support, training and continuing technical assistance. To
