Interbase spinoff news is out (on Yahoo). There are no surprises.

Since there will be about 117 million shares of Corel post merger, and if we assume Inprise puts in $30 million, that means each share of share of Corel will have about a 25 cent per share stake in Interbase. Since it takes 1.34 shares of Inprise to get one share of Corel, that means you get an 18.5 cent stake in Interbase for each of your pre merger shares. And this isn't something you get directly. It's indirect, since the Interbase shares will be owned by Inprise before the merger, and Corel after the merger.

If there were no Corel/Inprise merger, your stake in Interbase would have been about 42 cents per Inprise share (if you count all shares and options), or about 48 cents per share if you use the fully diluted number of shares (which doesn't count options).

A week or two ago someone posted they had heard Ann Harrison would head the company, so no surprise there either (I posted here regarding that rumor with some links on Ann Harrison).
