Keir Dullea was one of my fascinations when I was in high school. I saw his first movie David and Lisa, which I thought was very good. After 2001 he seemed to disappear but I have since found out that he spent much of the rest of his career making undistinguished television movies. Four years ago I saw him in a production of Chekhov's play The Seagull in Chapel Hill, NC out of curiosity. He did a servicable job but I understand now why he didn't become a star in Hollywood. He's still, though, a very accomplished, technically proficient actor. When I was growing up it seemed to me that 2001 was re-released just about every year for as long as I can remember. Now I don't think it's been out for years. I think the flying bone into spaceship image is one of the most provacative jump cuts in all of cinema.
