Computer Associates took out Sterling Software this weekend. SSW is another storage software company. This is relevant to LGTO in a couple of ways. First, the valuation CA paid for SSW has to help LGTO. Second, although it removes CA from the hunt for LGTO (CA had been rumored to be a potential acquirer of LGTO), it makes LGTO that much more of a scarce resource for an IBM, EMC, or SUNW that might be interested in competing against VRTS and CA in the enterprise storage software market.
