Janice:
>>NEWS FLASH!!! It is likely that 98% of all Americans have never heard of Ayn Rand. Shocking as this reality may seem to you, I suggest that you come to terms with it.<<
It would not shock me at all, since many have never heard of Locke, Payne or even Jefferson -- even though Jefferson is on every nickel and $5 bill. In fact, back in the 70s a reporter in Florida typed a copy of the Bill of Rights and mimeographed it. He passed them out to people on the street and asked them their opinion on it. LESS THAN 20% KNEW WHAT IT WAS OR AGREED WITH IT. More than 55% thought it was a COMMUNIST document!
More recently, surveys have been done where more than 70% of high school students could not explain what capitalism is, where New England is on a map, or Europe for that matter. Shockingly, in a recent survey, more than 20% of a senior high school class in California could not point out the correct continent where the USA is located. (But I bet they all knew the latest dirt on "90210".)
It has been asked throughout history, "Can a few be right, and the world wrong?" And it has been answered throughout history, time and again, with a resounding, "YES". Our Founding Fathers explicity showed the despots of Europe and the mystical potentates of the Far East that their political and economic systems were wrong . So it shall be again!
That 2% thinks rationally and the rest non-think is not intimidating. What do you think the ratio was in 1774? 1775? 1776?
Andrew does not think, he drips bromides learned at the feet of those who proclaimed that the ultimate wisdom is to know that no thought is possible, that no reality is possible. He is an apt student.
By, the way, I am not paranoid. I do not make paranoid claims. Please do not attempt to paint me with the broad brush of "the militia" or any of the other statist-minded anti-government groups. They do not truly understand the nature of the Founding Father's philosophy. Most are neo-fascists.
