Mr. M.C. McLeod reports
Flag Resources proposes to add a second drill to its exploration program in
the Wanapitei anomaly, Sudbury, Ont. The drill is to be used to deepen a
vertical drill hole at Matagamasi Lake, ML94-1, Rathbun township, from
2,600 to 3,500 feet. The drill hole, in altered Gowganda sediments,
intersected extensive disseminated nickel, copper, platinum, palladium,
gold and silver mineralization over widths ranging from 79 to 1,111 feet.
Recent research work (Schandl et al 1994) concluded that such
mineralization migrated by hydrothermal activity from an underlying igneous
intrusion.
In the Rathbun Lake Peninsula, drill core of the first step-out hole, from
315 feet of disseminated nickel, copper, platinum, palladium and gold
mineralization, in gabbroic rock is being assayed. A second step-out drill
hole is drilling below 100 feet.
Golden Briar may earn a 50-per-cent interest in this portion of Flag's
70,000 acres in the Wanapitei anomaly.
