It would be nice to see Sun start rolling out it's product to the data centers, with Ancor switches in it. Can you believe Brocades price. It just keeps climbing.

On the Gilder article about Cisco losing market share in 2001, I think Cisco should never be underestimated in its ability to adapt. It has 65% profit margins and gets 80% of its business over the internet. Not bad for a company that is supposed to fall apart, according to Gilder. I think it will drive very hard and intensively into the direction it needs to go to survive and thrive.

One time when I was in Kenya on a picture safari, I was in a VW Camper Bus, that you stand up thru the open roof and look out at the animals. One event that I will always remember was late in the day at dusk (in the Amboseli Park, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro) we found a giant bull elephant stretching its neck out to chew off these thorny branches high up in this tree. Our driver circled the far side of the tree, maybe 200 feet out and as we came around the tree towards the elephant, we passed about 30 feet behind it going around 15 MPH. I have never seen such a huge animal move so fast. It spun around and reared up on it's hind legs and made a loud noise as the driver punched the gas and we sped/sputtered off with the adrenaline pumping. I look at Cisco like the bull elephant. It is big, but can move quickly to defend its territory.
