Bux, your first statement is off: "the projections that IDC will collect large royalties on 3G CDMA appear to be based on the belief that the that the 1994 agreement between Qualcomm and IDC only applies to IS-95."

No, the projections that IDC will collect "large royalties" (as you state) on 3g CDMA is not based on a "belief" that the 1994 agreement bw Q and IDC only apply to IS-95. (maybe you mistated what you intended to mean?)

The projections that IDC will collect large royalties from this arrangement would only hinge on the possibility that CDMA2000 becomes the platform of choice among all users in the world. This is clearly debatable and there is nothing in the current stream that would imply otherwise. This would presume so many factors that even Zeus would have a difficult time calculating.

Most of IDC's "large royalties" will come from their Nokia and TXN relationship relative to (a) WCDMA buildouts, (b) system on a chip, and (c) IDC's current patents held within both 2g and 3g TDMA & 3g CDMA which apply to both WCDMA and TDD configurations.

As for the rest of your arguments; they are principally presumptive and technology based only. Standards platforms are in, and of themselves, defined as a self-contained "technology platform" or, in some cases, a patentable technology. You can follow this through with a standards attorney. Call IDC; they may be able to assist you. Have you ever called them? I'm not stating that this is possibly or maybe so. I telling you what I've already witnessed. As for Quincy's request for a "source": Finland. Good enough? Probably not.
