Pigboy, Thanks for your post! I think Gilder is correct in many of his thoughts. I agree that he doesn't "get it" on Fibre Channel. But the way I look at it, is in the long run, the technology that plows the way for an entire ecosystem to reduce costs usually wins, when it combines with other technologies to form a more robust ecosystem. An ecosystem with Sonet may be healthy today, but the marketplace keeps churning out new combinations of solutions, like a rubics cube, eventually the combination needed for the better technology to surge ahead, will line up and the ecosystem as a whole will move on to the new more efficient technology.
