Will providers ever use channels wider than 10Mhz?

The Mobile Communications handbook, Second Edition, 1999, IEEE Press

Channel bandwidth
WCDMA: 5,10,20 MHz
cdma2000: 1.2.5,5,10,15,20 MHz

I dont think you really answered the question. There is very little doubt that 3G standards will have provisions for channel bandwidths beyond 5MHz.....the key question is weather these will ever actually be implemented. As of right now....No operator that I have seen has even considered using a system with channel widths beyond 5MHz.
If you have seen any, I would love to see a reference.

Are you are saying that IDC would be owed patents on implementations of 3G that use less than 10MHz, just because the standard as a whole allows for larger channels?
