Can you write covered calls or buy puts?

Yes, and I do write CCs. In fact, I'm doing more and more of that lately. Unfortunately I have to call option orders in to the broker, and that tends to be even slower than their not too swift online stock trading, but at least I can do it. It's not as good as being able to sell stock the day you buy it, but it's a lot better than nothing.
