I've been lurking at the "$100 in 1998" thread for a while now, and have had stock in it (US) for about just as long.

Here is my EXTREMELY nonprofessional, 16-year-old viewpoint on why Corel's stock is just standing around while they continue to make superior products.

I read this from the marketing section of COSFF's 96 report at their site:

"The Marketing department communicates Corel's technological vision and commitment to customer satisfaction through various
media-including print advertising in scores of major industry publications, TV and radio commercials, the annual Corel World Design
Contest and various promotional and sponsorship activities. In addition, the efforts of the growing media relations team help secure
hundreds of valuable product reviews each year."

Yet the only ads I have ever seen are in mail order catalogs and comp. mags. Is it just me, or are they invisible to everyone else?
