One can hope,, but not likely IMO. The only reason COMS is moving is because they received a pleasant surprise in the USX deal and recd PALM which is being spun off. A classic "parts worth more than the who;e" CPQ has stock in companies but nothing really able to spin,, actually not much at all--
COMS UP 4 11/16 and CPQ DOWN 1,, -- the following may help MSFT (hopefully I can say something good about the porker if so):
Compaq Customers: On the Fast Track

Compaq customers are apparently on a slightly faster migration track to
Windows 2000 adoption than customers of some of its competitors. At least
53% of Compaq customers polled at Comdex/Fall '99 say they plan to migrate
within six months. An additional 36% said they'll migrate within 12
months.
