The source report states estimated Titanium consumption in Year 2000 is divided as follows; Ti Metal 2%, Other 6%, Pigment 92%. The industry sector use for pigment
comprises 12% paper products, Coatings 60%, Plastics 19%, Other 6%.
The pigment portion of the industry drives the consumption equation of TiO2. Titanium metals is used primarily in aerospace and sporting goods and to a lessor degree on flux coatings for Welding Rods. The US it seems consumes about 35% percent of Tio2 production, Western Europe 30% and Asia
about 24%.

As far as Titanium use in aerospace it is well documented, from engine components, turbine blades, whether it comprises an increasing portion of the pie, would make for some interesting research.
