Hi Reseller: I searched the newspaper archives and found a KnightRider article dated October 20, 1998. It stated pretty much what you posted but left out one important fact.

Here is the relevant portion of the article:

"... The giant Santa Ana-based electronics distributor signed an alliance with Softbank, Japan's largest distributor of software and computer peripherals. The two companies will seal the partnership by buying $50 million, or about 1 percent, of each other's stock..."

As long as Ingram has not sold any of their SoftBank stock, we know that it is equivalent to "about 1%" of the outstanding stock. Anybody know how many outstanding shares of Softbank stock there is?
