Nice little run today. More to come, imho:
BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2000--Vixel Corporation (Nasdaq: VIXL) today
announced the selection of its Fibre Channel switches as the central storage network connection in one of
the industry's most powerful streaming media systems.

Avid Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: AVID), a leading provider of digital video and audio tools for
information and entertainment applications, and InfoLibria, Inc., a company enabling service providers to
deliver content-based Internet services, have joined forces to create the industry's preeminent system for
streaming audio and video content over the Internet. The system is comprised of the Avid Unity(TM)
solution, InfoLibria's MediaMall technology and Microsoft Corporation's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows NT
and Windows Media Technologies. Within the Avid Unity solution, the Vixel 8100 Fabric Switch
provides the robust and reliable storage component, ensuring high-speed data transfer.

The advanced streaming media system moves digital content over the Internet at an unprecedented 1.6
gigabits per second rate. The system combines the Avid Unity product, a highly scalable shared storage
solution designed specifically for the needs of digital audio and video, with InfoLibria's MediaMall
multimedia management and delivery system, giving service providers the hardware and software
infrastructure necessary for delivering CD-quality audio and television-quality video to their customers.
The combination of these technologies creates a system that enables 1,500 broadband customers to
simultaneously experience television-quality audio and video via the Web.

"This break-through system utilizes the latest technology in digital video and audio and Internet
streaming. Choosing Vixel as a storage networking partner ensures we have a reliable and innovative
solution," said Steve Nezer, Vice President and General Manager of Network and Storage Solutions at
Avid Technology. "We know from experience we can count on Vixel to deliver compelling high
performance storage network solutions and they truly understand the demanding requirements of this
market."

The Vixel 8100 eliminates the limitations of linear editing and ensures reliable image transfer during the
editing and storing process. This helps the streaming media solution deliver content at maximum speed.

"The alliance between Avid and InfoLibria gives service providers the ability to deliver unprecedented
streaming media capabilities," said James Frantzreb, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Avid
Technology Inc. "As a key ingredient of the Avid Unity solution, the Vixel 8100 provides flexibility and
scalability, essential to powerful digital audio and video storage and streaming."

"The MediaMall-Avid product required a high performance switch with reliable throughput and quality
data transmission capabilities," said Kevin Lewis, Senior Director of Marketing, InfoLibria, Inc. "Vixel's
8100 delivered on that requirement. The massive streaming media system now benefits from Vixel's
switch technology expertise and complete end-to-end fibre channel solutions."

Vixel recently introduced the renewal of its OEM relationship with Avid Technology. This new Internet
solution demonstrates Avid's confidence in Vixel as a reliable vendor and developer of storage networking
solutions. Vixel recently introduced its third generation switch technology as part of the Vixel 7000 Series
Switches and will continue to expand its solution partnerships with industry leaders like Avid.

"Vixel's expertise in Fibre Channel technology, its market leadership as the only complete source of SAN
interconnect products and its strategic partnerships are paving the way for widespread SAN adoption in
all areas of the Internet," said Arun Taneja, Vice President of Marketing, Vixel Corporation. "Vixel is
meeting and exceeding the demands of increasingly savvy Internet users, ensuring that the images moving
across the Internet are transmitted reliably and quickly and setting a new standard of quality."
