I've thought of that and most everything else. I was wondering if HP was unhappy with with the Solaris on IA/64 combination. Intel may be trying to keep a partner committed at the risk of losing another.

Like you, I thought they'd be happy to have all comers, AND that's what they were saying, sort of. I'm wondering, too, if Solaris on IA/64 didn't live up to expectations if the user would return to SPARC/Solaris rather than trying another IA/64 OS.

Right now, I don't think this is good for Intel or good for Sun. I usually take in more information before commenting. Will wait for that IDF keynote tomorrow.
