The difference Paul, as noted by others, is that in the past AMD couldn't match Intel on the high end. The battle between the K5/K6 and the Pentium chips was like a fight between two boxers, except one was missing an arm. The logic of the argument works -- just as anyone who owned AMD then knows, AMD couldn't execute, and therefore, the argument was never tested in the marketplace. With the Athlon, for at least the next 6 months, AMD is ready to fight Intel with both fists. Is the old AMD/Intel pattern repeating or is a new one emerging? At least 13% of your brain says a new one is emerging!
