CrossKeys & Parc Deliver Optimized IP Networks with Unique Network Analysis and Decision Support Solution
KANATA, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2000--
New joint solution allows service providers to ensure cost-effective

Quality of Service (QoS) delivery over IP networks

CrossKeys Systems Corporation (Nasdaq:CKEY)(TSE:CKY) and Parc Technologies Ltd. today announced a global partnership to provide an integrated solution for monitoring and analyzing Internet Protocol (IP) networks.

The partnership integrates CrossKeys Resolve(R) performance management software with Parc's RiskWise analysis software. Service providers deploying the joint solution can ensure cost-effective delivery of QoS to their customers, by analyzing performance issues in their IP networks and modelling future demand to ensure effective network planning and optimization. This enables the service provider to take advantage of the growing demand for IP services and its corresponding revenue growth without incurring the high costs of network over-provisioning.

"This integrated solution addresses the Achilles Heel of IP-based applications -- unpredictability -- that holds back widespread adoption of applications like Voice Over IP," said John Symes, Managing Director, Northern Europe, CrossKeys. "By combining the network intelligence found in CrossKeys Resolve software with the advanced analysis and modelling capability of RiskWise, service operators can look into the 'virtual world' of their IP networks to identify and compensate for problems that disrupt service and result in lost revenue."

By using the combined solution, service providers can now measure IP traffic by class of customer or even individual customer, analyze detailed traffic flow across the whole of the IP network and model the network's future. This enables operators to measure the profitability of their network and customers, and enables detailed network management, planning, design and business development.

"We are pleased to partner with a company of CrossKeys' global standing and customer base," said Gideon Agar, Managing Director of Parc Technologies. "CrossKeys Resolve has demonstrated its advanced network management capabilities in some of the largest telecom networks in the world. This technological partnership will create enormous business benefits for IP network operators by allowing them to understand their customers and networks better and to seize a competitive edge based on this knowledge."

CrossKeys Resolve portfolio brings best-of-breed performance management for carrier-class networks. Service providers use CrossKeys Resolve software to gain a view on the critical traffic trends of their network and customer services, leading to better management of network elements and better service to the end-customer.

RiskWise is an integrated decision-support tool to help service providers guarantee customer-specific quality of service. A new use of constraint-based technology, it provides comprehensive network solutions while imposing negligible costs on network resources. RiskWise was developed in the ECLiPSe constraints-based programming environment, which incorporates over 100 man-years of development by post-doctorate scientists. Designed for multi-technology, multi-service networks, RiskWise addresses the areas of network design, engineering and optimisation.
