Henry, when I transferred shares from MSDW to my E-Trade account it took over 7 weeks. And you know why, Morgan Stanley was dragging their feet. In my case, I was closing the account. They had no motivation to quickly make the share transfer. When I called MSDW they would say that share transfers took time to process,blah,blah,blah. I have since found out that 1-2 months is standard for large brokerages. Thus, it may not be "all" E-Trades fault. 50% of the frustration needs to be placed on Morgan.
