MUNICH -- Infineon Technologies AG here today announced a joint development agreement with Zoran Corp. to develop a single-chip decoder for digital TV.
"This international collaborative development project, leveraging Infineon's vast technology pool and experience in analog and digital TV and Zoran's VLSI and embedded [software] capabilities, will enable us to reach a new technological peak," declared Alon Ironi, vice president of engineering at Zoran, based in Santa Clara, Calif.
Infineon and Zoran said the jointly developed decoder IC will introduce a new level of integration of video, audio, graphics, communication, processing, and embedded memory for smart, Internet-connected television sets. Infineon plans to contribute a range of technologies to the project, including embedded DRAM, communications systems solutions and analog circuits. Zoran will contribute its digital signal processing (DSP) technologies for audio and video applications.
The partners said their joint development project will result in a complete system solution, including a reference platform that will allow OEMs to greatly decrease time to market. |
