Oh not you too. Anyhow, that's not what we're talking about. Sure the Rosenbergs were guilty. Probably Hiss too, though the stuff that's come out in the press recently is open to a variety of interpretations.

We're talking about ordinary people. A friend of mine knew someone--your basic dumb blonde, evidently--who found herself in an extremely unpleasant situation because she attended a few party meetings. Why did she attend? To meet guys. She stopped going because the guys were dorks.

And let's not forget that the Soviets were our allies in WWII, no? This perhaps sent a confusing message.

You name the Rosenbergs and Hiss. But an enormous number of innocent people were smeared, and for that there's no excuse. The American Communist Party was never a real threat to anything; the Soviets did indeed give 'em money, but rightly thought they were hopeless.

(And we don't give money to foreign political parties? Gimme a break...)
