James,
All things done for the glory of God are a gift unto his presence
I think so too.
There are many ways to give.
I think that too.
The giving of righteousness for the furtherance of the Kingdom of God is blessed many times over.
I am not sure what you mean here , so I will let you clarify before I answer.
Money? I have no problem with cash gifts to the needy.
This is all a matter of when and where you are etc, etc. Example, this has happened to me several times. A man has walked up to me and ask for money to buy food. At that point I told them I would take them and buy them some food, and out of the times I said that, only two have taken me up on the offer. But of course there are many many causes(ie: Crisis Pregnancy Centers, etc. ) to give to .
I also see this in the Acts of the Apostles: Acts 6: 1-6 where men were given the job of feeding the widows. I believe they were using either food, or money to buy food, given by the saints of the church, and not just their own money. This seems to say that a collection was and should be taken to help in these matters , should it not?
But I do have a problem with using the church coffers to buy money market CDs , big and plenty fancy buildings everytime one gets a little crowded, etc etc.
I have heard it said that among the worldwide brothers, Americans have the hardest time deciding about this giving thing, and you know why? Because we have the most.
