Paul and Thread - <PB - My congratulations to you and all the Process Development staff at Intel/Portland for creating the P858.x process to produce 1.5 GHz Willamette CPUs.
If you could, please convey my congratulations to the Willamette architecture and design teams !

This is a STUNNING Development.>

Yes it is.

To preface, I personally am a very minor cog at Intel. Just so that is understood.

The Willamette design team deserves many congratulations for a successful demonstration a A-0 silicon at 1.5GHz.

The P858 process development teams across many sites deserves congratulations for providing a .18 production process platform with high drive current x-tors and Al interconnects that allowed this design to function at such high speed.

Also, I would like to note, several Coppermine OEM systems running at 1GHz were also shown. This situation I am some what more intimate with. Many congratulations to the Coppermine design teams, the P858 process team again, and also the D1B/F20 production crew, for making this demonstration happen. The latter deserves many kudos for getting the necessary collateral out the door in time that enabled the demonstration today. Many thanks guys and gals. Hopefully someone will at least spring for some free food to celebrate today's accomplishment :-).
