yep, i know...a friend of mine was in AMAT convertibles and got talked out of them by his broker (who first talked him into buying them with AMAT at 50) at around the time AMAT hit 24. right near the low if i remember correctly. that broker was of the type singing the buy-and-hold mantra, so he really epitomized the depth of negative sentiment then. when i heard about this i talked him into buying the shagging things back...just in time i may add. of course i told him later that AMAT was ridiculously overvalued at 80...
i wonder what to call it now? no superlative seems appropriate.
