The first of what doubtless will be many new big sales agreements this year: ROME--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 15, 2000--Sat2000, satellite's premier thematic channel, has purchased a SeaChange broadcast MediaCluster video server system to store and deliver full digital video assets. Sat2000 chose SeaChange International, Inc.'s SEAC video server system for its unparalleled ability to cost-effectively manage multichannel video operations with fault resilience and to easily expand in support of its growth strategy.
"Our new main offices have been designed for state-of-the-art technology, thus streamlining our personnel's workload," said Fulvio Gallo, Technical Manager of Sat2000. "The SeaChange system allowed us to totally eliminate tapes from our production path, with fewer maintenance costs and uncompromised playout quality"
Since its founding in 1998, Sat2000 has established itself as a prominent satellite service airing free transmissions worldwide. Sat2000 provides information, current affairs and educational programming, giving more opportunity to important issues such as religion, ecclesiastical life, and the Pope's message.
Based in Rome, Sat2000's Broadcast MediaCluster 800 series comprises four `nodes' (computer servers) with four inputs, five outputs and 200 hours of video storage. The system is integrated with Sat2000's choice of ETERE automation software.
MediaCluster Technology
The MPEG-2 4:2:2 Broadcast MediaCluster leverages SeaChange's patented MediaCluster server architecture to address the challenges of multichannel broadcasting with the greatest degree of fault-resilience and cost-effective scalability in the television industry.
Broadcasters around the world are realizing further benefits from SeaChange's expertise in video networking through the SeaChange Network Storage Architecture, which allows multiple, distributed Broadcast MediaClusters to integrate easily with archive libraries, editing systems and other broadcast components through a low-cost, high-performance network based on Gigabit switching and IP protocols.
