When it became clear that it was losing the MHZ war to Intel (back in the days when 68XXX was a real contender with 80XXX) didn't Apple (or Motorola) briefly try to claim a 2X clock speed? I believe the justification was that parts of some operations took place at both the rise and fall of the clock. When it was pointed out to them that the same thing held true for parts of Intel's chip (though fewer parts), they dropped the claim.
