Hi Troy, I'm into the "over 12 months" period in my JBL investment now, so any shares I sell from this point forward will all be LT cap gains.

Since I only buy and sell small incremental trades around my core holding, it would be very unlikely that on a FIFO basis I'll ever have another ST capital gain event with Jabil.

I agree the first 12 months in any investment it's not as much fun selling for profits, but it's a nice problem to have! I would guess that the "average" stock in my portfolio I've held 5+ years, so ST capital gain rates are rare any more. In '98 it was 13 trades out of 85 taxable events in the Short Term column. I'm not that far along on my '99 taxes yet to know how last year went. That's fairly typical, however. My total inventory turn in '98 was only 28% of portfolio value and my average capital gain per trade was 38%. 1999 will have a bit higher inventory turnover in that I had 6 stocks bought out for Cash during the year. Uncle Sam's going to love me come the Ides of April!

Best regards, Tom
