India's January Consumer Price Index Up 3.8% On Year

NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--India's consumer price index for non-manual urban workers rose 3.8% in January from the same month last year, the government said Wednesday.

The government also said the average rate of inflation during April to January, the first ten months of the current fiscal year, was 4.5%.

The government's Central Statistical Organization calculates the monthly consumer price index based on indices from 59 cities in India for non-manual urban workers.
