Panoscan Inc. and ShopGoOnline.com Complete First Web Imaging Project With IBM
Hotmedia

Business Editors

LOS ANGELES--(Business Wire)--Feb. 16, 2000--Go On Line Networks
(OTCBB:GONT) and Panoscan Inc., using IBM HotMedia Internet
software, have completed their first project in an ongoing agreement
to co-develop effective Web-based imaging towards increasing sales
volume in their Internet Mall.
The high quality skin care and cosmetic product categories from
Vera's Retreat of Bel Air, Calif. are newly available on their Web
site, ShopGoOnline.com.
IBM HotMedia was instrumental in creating the Vera's Retreat
digitally produced, online "movie" -- which features imbedded hotspots
on the site that allow the viewer to be rapidly transported to
different online skin care and cosmetic product categories. Additional
IBM HotMedia interactive effects include moving showcases of Vera's
cosmetic products, and highly descriptive audio and imaging.
Go On Line selected Vera's Skin Care and cosmetic product
categories for this first endeavor because the presentation of the
company's broad-based line was highly compatible with a variety of
interactive imaging techniques. This Web-enhanced project was made
possible through use of IBM HotMedia software.
The homepage of the site -- ShopGoOnline.com -- includes
Panoscan's breakthrough panoramic imaging technology. Using IBM
HotMedia on the site, Vera's Retreat, located in the Beverly Glen
section of Los Angeles, is captured in a 360 degree, high definition
image.
HotMedia plays an important role in IBM's strategy to help
companies transform their creative and business processes to become
e-businesses. IBM HotMedia is the first rich media technology for the
Web that fully harnesses the power of Java. The HotMedia software
toolkit is divided into tiny applets (typically less than 10 Kbytes in
size), which are delivered to the online user on an as-needed basis.
This patented "smart content" technology requires no plug-ins or
special server requirements, eliminating two of the most significant
drawbacks to the adoption of rich media.
"We are very excited about this site," said Panoscan's President,
Ted Chavalas, "The interactive content that loads quickly is the ideal
formula for keeping the Internet surfer at the site. Vera's Retreat
cosmetic products are of the highest quality. Our challenge is to
represent that quality consistently and in an exciting way throughout
the site. Our joint effort does that by demonstrating how Panoscan
imaging, when harnassed with IBM HotMedia, can create both enhanced
and increased Web site interest."
"ShopGoOnline.com has always presented our products with
streaming video. This expansion into Vera's skin care and cosmetics is
another state-of-the-art way of showcasing products that are unique,
and will help to drive sales," said ShopGoOnline.com Vice President,
Matthew Herman, "We plan to add more interactive interest to the site
and to expand our use of additional IBM HotMedia tools throughout our
Internet mall."
"IBM HotMedia makes it easier for companies to create and manage
rich media for e-business," said Armando Garcia, vice president of
content management solutions, IBM. "The new features in HotMedia allow
companies to make the digital experience more closely resemble the
physical one, and easily turn static visuals into multimedia Web
applications -- which created a unique fit for shopgoonline.com."
Vera's Skin Care and cosmetic products can be seen at
www.ShopGoOnline.com by clicking on the button at the lower left of
the home page screen.
