GST Telecommunications Selected by ICG Communications to
Provide Local Access Services for ISP Customers

GST's ISPRI(TM) Provides Faster Call Connections and Download
Speeds for Internet Users

VANCOUVER, Wash., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- GST
Telecommunications, Inc. (Nasdaq: GSTX - news), a leading
Integrated Communications Provider (ICP) in California and
the western United States, today announced that it has signed
a series of service orders with ICG Communications, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ICGX - news), under which GST will provide ISPRI
high-speed digital access services for ICG in several of its
major western markets, including Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.;
Portland, Ore.; Vancouver, Wash.; and Boise, Idaho.

``GST's ISPRI service is another example of our strategic
focus on the data and broadband market segments,' stated Tom
Malone, acting chief executive officer of GST. ``Data-centric
businesses and carriers like ICG don't just need long-haul
bandwidth capacity; they also need a fast, efficient, and
cost-effective way of delivering that bandwidth to their
local customers. ISPRI and FasTrunk PRI are ideal solutions
for businesses that need ISDN-quality local telephone service.'

GST's ISPRI is a digital access service specially tailored
for applications like those of Internet Service Providers
(ISPs). One channel of an ISPRI circuit carries all of the
signaling information between the user and the network,
allowing the other 23 channels to provide full 64 kilobit per
second (Kbps) service to customers rather than the 56 Kpbs
carried by a typical access line. The increase in bandwidth
provides ISPs with faster call set up times and more
efficient port utilization, as well as a digital signal from
end to end.

In addition to inbound-only ISPRI, GST offers two-way
FasTrunk PRI service. Using Integrated Services Digital
Network (ISDN) technology, FasTrunk PRI delivers inbound and
outbound voice, data, and video traffic over a digital T-1
connection, making it an ideal solution for medium and large
businesses.

ICG Communications, Inc. is one of the nation's fastest-
growing broadband Internet infrastructure service providers
to the Internet service provider (ISP) community. Through its
nationwide communications network that serves more than 700
cities, ICG provides access for approximately 10 percent of
the nation's dial-up Internet traffic. In addition, ICG
provides high-quality telecom services, including local, long
distance and data communications, to businesses nationwide,
as well as direct connectivity to interexchange carriers. For
more information on ICG Communications visit the company's
Web site at icgcomm.com.

GST Telecommunications, Inc., an Integrated Communications
Provider (ICP) headquartered in Vancouver, Wash., provides a
broad range of integrated telecommunications products and
services including enhanced data and Internet services and
comprehensive voice services throughout the United States,
with a robust presence in California and the West.
Facilities-based GST continues to focus on its western
regional strategy by anchoring its next generation networks
in local markets and connecting them via long haul fiber
networks. Visit GST's Web site at www.gstcorp.com.
