Westchester says radiation "normal" at ConEd plant
NEW YORK, Feb 16 (Reuters) - The Westchester County Health Department in New York said Wednesday its field monitoring teams detected normal levels of radiation around Consolidated Edison Inc.'s (NYSE:ED - news) nuclear plant following a steam leak late Tuesday.

''None of (the) readings exceeded normal background radiation levels,'' the County Health Department said in a statement.

The department's field monitoring teams obtained 24 readings in six locations within 2-1/2 miles around the Indian Point 2 nuclear power plant in Buchanan, N.Y. on the Hudson River about 44 miles north of New York City.

Con Edison manually shut the plant at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (0030 GMT Wednesday) when a steam leak was detected in one of the four steam generators.
