I'm not a software guy but let's put this into perspective. 63,000 'bugs' is about 13 per every 10,000 lines of code.

About 26,000 of these are dll upgrades. In the windows 98 release, the installation assumed that MS's dlls were better and simply over wrote the old one's. This caused some significant, but not catastrophic problems and if memory serves took about 4 month's for MS help to get everyone running 100%.

THIS time the programs leaves your old dll, but runs the new one for everything else. Allowing users at their leisure to change them.

Another 25,000 (my guess) are driver incompatiblilities. My guess is that these represent about one-tenthousandths of the drivers out there.

All of the 'bugs' and the workarounds and the fixes go into the online MS helpdesk database, which can be accessed by clicking on [the FREE] help button at the top of your screen. My experience with MS in this regard has been nothing but excellent. You give them a problem, and they email you and call you until its fixed.

Best,

Duke
