Just one problem with the murky reporting on this story, Alex:
Earlier reports from Cannacord story posted ystdy sez:

1) $100m loan is for just financing day to day ops which is about as effective at breaking a la nina drought as spitting in the wind for a bankrupt mining company.

This Alex story sez:
1) $100m loan is for "finishing up something to do with Geita getta online

The Other story posted ystdy sez:
1) $100m will be put up by Barrick to "finish up whatever on Geita that they are trying to buy at firesale prices.

So will the REAL $100 Loan please stand up?

And the Ghanian govt is still in charge with their golden vote...

And since when did the EGM court decision ONLY affect this tiny portion of Ashanti shareholders?

Adryx now wants to drop their action because they forced the board to be re-arranged. But a 4-5% rogue shareholder group doesn't carry that much clout...or DO they?

I understood the court to say, hey boys...have an EGM, not a closet lovefest...and do it by the end of Feb when other players will have their Geita bids in for Ghanian approval.

And ALLLLLLLLLLLLL this begs the question as to why Goldman covered 2mil oz of short fall on Feb 4th?

Could it have been a proportional gold bullion return payment due that was 'unavoidable" ala Gramlich's purported erratic erotica?

This inquiring prospector would sure like to know.

Naw, the spin doctors can say alllllllllLLLLLLLLL they want to...but Ashanti is NOT over the hump...they still have their 14 mil oz hedge position acc'd to Canaccord themselves, the Ghanian banking advisor.

And while we're speaking of lousy management at Ashanti...would someone like to tell me how the firing of the ONLY dude at Ashanti who knew where ALL the deriv positions were and who was owed what to whom is supposed to help the new BoD slate "get their correct informational arms around the deriv/hedgebook mess?" I think I'd want that guy standing right beside me, lookin' me in the eye, with gov't immunity in his breast pocket, telling ME where all the bodies are buried...

unless of course the $100m bridge loan is to pay for an "audit" of this whole convoluted mess????

Or maybe the $100m loan facility is being sought as a surprise donaton to the Gaddabout coffers b/c the price of a drunken artist's lithographs just went up due to scarcity...I've heard they only have 495 of the original 500 left...
