I went away, then lurked, and am now back again with a new perspective on CPQ. I saw Capellas on NBR several weeks ago and judging by the market's reaction since then, he just doesn't cut it. Why can't Capellas find and appoint a new CFO? This looks highly suspicious to me, not to mention others who are a whole lot more "clueful" than the likes of me.

I was thinking that three times may prove to be the charm for CPQ: they will do what ATT did when they got rid of former CEO Allen - who clearly wasn't up to the task - and then struck it rich with Michael Armstrong. In his NBR interview, Capellas struck me as nervous, a poor communicator, not "together" and lacking the requisite poise to be a charismatic and successful CEO leading a multi-billion dollar corporation. It's sad, because right now the whole of CPQ is definitely worth a lot LESS than the sum of its parts. While I'm glad I managed to escape with my dignity intact, this won't stop me from buying some more CPQ LEAPs when a figurehead who's "golden" and can unlock all the company's value is selected to replace MC.
