Amy -

CPQ has in the past sold a lot of hardware to Intel for Intel's internal use, and I believe they still do a fair amount of business with Intel as a CPQ customer. So understand my context - this was JUST about Intel's choice of a hardware partner to go after applications hosting.

CPQ clearly has many advantages in the general market. As I think you pointed out, CPQ has deep technology capability and outspends DELL more than 10 to 1 in R&D... Also, CPQ has a well earned reputation in the server space for high reliability. They dominate the 8-way market with a 90% share, and have about twice DELL's share in the 4-way market...

I believe that Intel intends to strongly enable Linux in their hosting business. CPQ is involved in several ventures with MSFT to provide hosting using the MSFT stack, the most recent being the digex deal. That kind of puts Intel and CPQ in different spaces in regard to the hosting business, although obviously CPQ is using Intel technology for its implementations.
