BSGrinder, re: double click
Kit. Until today I really wasn't concerned about cookies. Many cookies make surfing more convenient. (For example SI recognizes my cookie and automatically logs me in).
And the browser only allows you to accept or reject all cookies, so I left them on.
But when I read of dclk's purchase of Abacus and their plans to merge cookies with personal data I really got concerned. (And I was shocked at how many cookies dclk had requested from my PC).
I have purchased a number of items on the web, and in the process provided personal information. I now wonder if any of these companies have an agreement with dclk.
And the privacy policy's are so weasel worded I just ignored them. Where I go and what I do on the web is nobody else's business. But I didn't think I'd have to be the one to insure my privacy. Should I trust dclk to protect my privacy? Don't think so. This will be an interesting issue for the government. Somehow I get the feeling the problem will exist forever on the web.
