Anyone whose owned COMS for more than a year care to give their price targets for profit taking?

I haven't owned COMS over a year yet but here's my plan:

First, I have never believed in price targets and I'm glad I didn't, it would have cost me dearly unless my price targets were set laughably high. Price targets are old-fashioned and based upon slow business cycles.

I "check-up" on my investments at least once or twice a month. I plan on holding them long-enough that I don't have to worry about the small fluctuations. With COMS, I have received much advice to make sure I sell before it goes back down but that is based upon looking in the rear-view mirror and some trouble COMS had the last three years or so. Look at a ten-year chart to illustrate. COMS was bid up too far, too fast and performed too poorly considering the opportunities available. I do expect a turbulent ride over the next year or so but I will not be presumptuous enough to try to time these highs and lows! Personally, I see a lot of signs of a turn-around in progress and the recent run-up will not bother me unless I begin to see less than exciting performance in their new growth markets. If the future of the markets I am counting on begin to look less than exciting, I will not hesitate to sell even if the price is less than ideal. I do not use share price as an indicator of anything except investor stupidity or smarts depending upon the situation.

I am particularly interested in seeing 3Com gain a leading position in the packet based wireless networks that will be a multi-billion dollar market soon. It appears that 3Com has some insight here and is not wasting any time becoming involved. I am also encouraged by the apparent good relationship 3Com appears to have with Qualcomm who I believe is at the leading edge of wireless data R&D and probably first to market with 3G chips for infrastructure and handsets. While 3Com is not positioned to be a total solution provider, I think even the big vendors will need their help when they are caught off guard by the speed and volume of the 3G build-out and will need to purchase high-margin, plug-in solutions from 3Com. Of course all of this is highly speculative at this stage without further information but speculative is where the high returns hide. Time will tell.
