This could be the savior for the disc drive industry, as the capacity might finally be outpaced by the need for storage due to these nifty PVR's The great thing about the next generation of boxes, is that the compression in the box will not be needed when storing Direct TV as the streams are already in MPEG 2 and just need to be retrieved and decoded just like a current set top box would do. (lower cost if the encoding is not needed) However, they should make some type of compression, maybe very low end to record terrestrial or cable broadcasts with the same box. We shall see. Everyone I have talked to that has one, and I know a few, say that they don't know how they have lived without it. kibby
