Hi,

Don't know if I am directly answering your question or not but here is my take on it.

First off, I'll add that I use Unix at work regularly.

I installed Corel Linux once, removed it and reinstalled it. This time around, it went much better since I told it to use the entire hard drive.

One big problem I see is difficulty at the Linux prompt. Linux (or even Unix) isn't the most user friendly.

I was expecting Corel to pack it with aliases, no such thing (unless I missed something). The desktop and limited utilities provided are great, really helped me out.

I downloaded Sun Star Office -- fantastic desktop productivity suite! VERY, VERY comparable to MS Office (atleast to the limited use I have made of it so far).

I think Corel Linux is a good product, but feel that there is atleast one to two years worth of development and standardization that still needs to be done before it is ready for mainstream users (by that I mean, people like my wife should be able to use the desktop easily -- Windoze allows that, Linux not quite yet).

Developers need to learn that not everyone is a Linux/Unix guru and build their apps. with very easy installation scripts or install software wizards (hey, this could be an excellent market for some bright developers to get into). Look at the Windoze market, no shortage of add on utilities for virtually any language to create install wizards.

Besides this, Corel does not have the best reputation right now (remember the insider trading charge, some of their top executives leaving...).

Corel will be a $60+ (CDN) stock again, someday...

Good luck...
