Typhoon,
I will respond, but from here on out, please join us in the new Bay Networks thread.
The NetIC's acquisition has been quite "profitable" to Bay Networks. We got good technology, great people with good ideas and higly motivated, and a great product to boot.
The NetIC's technology is now shipping as the BayStack 350T 16-port, fully auto-sensing 10/100 ethernet switch. This is 10Mb or 100Mb on any and all ports, not a mix of 10-only and 100-only ports. As well, it is a Layer 2 switch, not a hub.
I don't recall off hand the 3Com press-release to which you refer, but I do not believe anyone is currently offering anything that competes with the BS350T in price/performance/features. Differing opinions welcomed. ;-)
The list price for the BS350T is $3995 or $249 per 10/100 port.
Also, when we sent out the press release announcing the BS350T, it was already shipping in volume. This isn't necessarily true of all products announced in press releases (I don't exclude Bay from that comment, BTW).
