hmaly, <What impact will Willy have, no matter how good it is, to the consumer market.>

It was exactly a year ago when people were wondering why they'd ever need a Pentium III 500 MHz, especially the AMD supporters out there.

But hey, no one needs anything more than the fastest AMD can achieve, right?

<Secondly Willy will apparently require quite a few changes in software to run the new SSE instructions which won't happen overnight.>

It was exactly a year ago when people were wondering whether anyone would want to support SSE in Pentium III, especially the AMD supporters out there.

But hey, those x86-64 extensions in Sledgehammer are going to be an INSTANT hit with the software developers out there, just like those ever-popular "Athlon New Instructions."
