Jack, James, you fellows are conducting a nice thread. Does any one have information for a telephone number for the CC, besides the web-link posted earlier today?

Not new to CIEN. I bought late last spring, delighted at the TLAB announcement and then watched in sickening horror as the partners plummeted together in a death spiral (even after renegotiating the terms of exchange) before TLAB mercifully put everyone of their misery. I thought that TLAB acted pretty honorably through the entire ordeal. It just became impossible to continue to justify the merger to its shareholders. Of course, CIEN's further misery was just beginning as the spiral continued.

And the trigger for all this: an absolutely shocking, gutless, perfectly time(d)-bomb from T on the morning of the day that the shareholders were to approve the combination, no doubt heavily influenced by LU's bloodlines. LU was, roughly contemporaneously, issuing releases with respect to its new 90 (I seem to recall) and higher lambda DWDM products (which at that time were a long way from commercial testing by carriers). Interesting that the shoes are fitting a bit differently now. It's taken the better part of a year and one-half.

I don't think a JNPR deal would be particularly helpful at this point. Just as CIEN is overcoming all the doubts and seems to be building new customer momentum and product momentum with Lightera's Core Director, why add additional material uncertainties to the business plan. No one on this thread has yet pointed to positive syngergies to be established with JNPR.

Good luck on earnings. Again, anyone have a tel. no?

Steve
