<<The key is ambiguity! In other words the unknown promise and how well one can grasp it. The last part is very important, you can have the greatest product or have the neatest technology, but if investors can't understand and relate it to how it will change how we work, live or play, then your investment will go no where...>>

Greg: You make too much sense <G>...I tend to agree with you. Some investments (like AWRE, CREE and CMGI) are tough to fully understand. Yet, the ambiguity adds excitement and potential for significant upside. It is important for investors to understand why a company is unique and why it is adding tremendous value in the marketplace. IMO, the leadership of a company should be examined as well. Does the firm have the ability to attract, retain and motivate TOP talent..?? That is a key question. The leaders need to know how to scale a business quickly and decisively --- especially when a firm is in the hyper-growth mode (the kind of business I prefer to invest in).

BTW, I would not worry about CMGI...David Wetheral is a genius and the publicly traded holdings that CMGI owns are almost as highly valued as the $27B market cap that CMGI has. Yet, the firm has a new $1 Billion B2B internet fund and dozens of new internet firms on its farm team. Its also got some great new IPOs that should benefit shareholders -- like the upcoming Alta Vista IPO (CMGI is the majority shareholder) and the divine interVentures IPO (CMGI owns almost 5%)....these IPOs are coming in the next 2 months and there will be others this year. IMO, CMGI is the PREMIERE internet incubator that diversifies an investor globally and throughout the internet marketspace. It also seems to consistently outperform even the best internut mutual funds. IMO, CMGI could easily trade between $300 and $500 by the end of 2000.

Best Regards,

Scott
