Qualcomm's LaunchPad

I've been trying to figure out the importance of LaunchPad. I've come to the conclusion that the importance is not what LaunchPad does as much as what it exemplifies. It exemplifies the power of CDMA, an enabling technology. Just as Microsoft built other enabling and applications technologies into Windows, LaunchPad is now built into the CDMA technology, allowing competitors to be entirely bypassed.

I suspect that this sort of thing might come under the scrutiny of the DOJ depending on how successful they are with the Microsoft case, but the fact remains that it shows the power Qualcomm has in the way they can wield their CDMA enabling technology.
