Applied Materials Churns Ahead on Bullish Outlook, Stock Split

smartmoney.com

But how much higher can Applied shares go? Last year, the stock soared 196%. And this year, it tacked on another 40% before pulling back last week. SG Cowen analyst Min Pang says that while the stock is trading at historically high levels ? 35 times calendar 2001 earnings estimates ? it could expand to 40 depending on how strong the company's results are. "Even at 40x, AMAT would be a $290 stock, or up 75% from current levels," Pang wrote in a note. "It is also within reason that our assumptions could end up being conservative and the stock could double from here."

Best of luck.
